Does it contain X-Peak

Am not sure about x-peak, but if you are referring to what brought about the ems crisis,  according to what I read it wasn't just tryptophan contaminants as much as tryptophan itself which even when pure produces harmful metabolites, and also raises systematic histamin levels to a very bad level , so much that it can initiate ems syndrome. .. 5htp is a step up from tryptophan, and add far as i know, I don't think it has that effect. .. That being said however,  take caution with 5htp since it has thepotential to cause heart valve fibrosis when at high levels. . Other than that I can only day that 5htp was a key supplement when taken for a month at repeated low daily doses in completely taking out my depression. .. But if you wish to use it for that pls do your own research on what to take it with and what not to take it with, for how long, and at what times. . And according to how it unfolds to you..Just some notes to help:Sometimes you may need to incorporate tyrosin with 5htp therapy. .Depression can be caused from more than one thing ( physical or mental stress, diet,  too much junk food,  cellular stress, b deficiency, zinc,  selenium, magnesium, lack of omega 3s, drug use.. And so on..The point is that if you are trying to treat a low mood problem,  which I don't know if you are, the key is first good diet with protiens and good complex carbs,  excercise and move on to the rest, you know what your doing right or wrong best. Off topic but I found mr. Happy stacks (uridine, omega 3, and choline to be a good stabilizers).. Again what works for one might not work for the other, but I just thought it would be helpful to throw around my thoughts. . But I recommend you look into uridine if you have a low motivation problem, since it upregulates dopamine receptors. . No. Peak X is the contaminant occasionally found in tryptophan and 5-HTP supplements. Jarrow's 5-HTP is sourced from griffonia simplicifolia seed with purity tested by HPLC, so there are no contaminants.

Not sure, not sure why it matters. All I can say is I have been taking Jarrow Brand 5HTP for years and it works great for me. I've taken other brands when I forgot to bring my Jarrow bottle on trips. Other brands didn't work as well. I swear by this brand.
